Vinted Members Express Frustration About Size Modifications

Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.

This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.

Social Media Backlash

Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.

Vinted explained the new system was more in line with similar services.

The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance.

Sizing System Changes

Before the change, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she stated.

Required Changes

Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".

"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said.

Marketplace Information

The app has more than 100 million members, with 18 million British users.

It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
