AC Shadows Unveils Bizarre Attack on Titan Crossover for Holiday Season

In a surprising partnership that defies traditional expectations, the game developer has revealed an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing free extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Disclosed

According to the official statement, "An unusual encounter leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where hints of forbidden ceremonies and monstrous transformations reverberate through the obscurity." The storyline introduces a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a secret group.

The mission focuses on "peculiar experiments and a terrifying enemy" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Changes

The preview features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser finishes with a powerful sequence showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Additional Content

Players who finish the mission will receive an exclusive katana together with numerous items hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Special arms
• Survey Corps steed

Latest Free Story Content

This update also adds the game's third complimentary story content, titled "The Enigma." This humorous adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive skills: Naoe reveals a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime properties. The series formerly featured a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
